New Principal!



Principal Named for UNC Hospital School
Dr. Nancy Yoder brings well-rounded experience to leadership position

Chapel Hill, NC – Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Nancy Yoder as Principal of the UNC Hospital School.
Dr. Yoder began her career as an exceptional children’s teacher in Rockford, Illinois and then served as an elementary classroom teacher and behavior specialist with the Department of Defense Schools in Germany. She was principal of elementary schools in Beloit, Sun Prairie and Madison, Wisconsin.

Currently, Yoder is Executive Director of Student Services and Alternative Education with the Madison Metropolitan School District in Madison, Wisconsin. In that role, she oversees the educational program at American Family Children's Hospital.

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Yoder joining our school district,” said Superintendent Tom Forcella. “Her extensive professional experience, coupled with her compassionate approach to student success, makes her uniquely suited for this important role.”

The Most Amazing Magician Ever!

Joshua Lozoff, internationally known magician, performed for the children at the Hospital School this week and all in attendance, from first graders to high schoolers to teachers were amazed at his abilities. He presented to 3 small groups so the kids and parents were able to get up close and personal with his magic tricks. Joshua is wonderful with children and we were fortunate to have him at our school.

Duke Energy's "Showdown at Resource Ranch!"

·         On Wednesday January 15th, The National Children’s Theatre performances of “Showdown at Resource Ranch” delighted children and parents alike. This fun and interactive program, sponsored by Duke Power, encourages everyone to do their part to conserve our natural resources. Each participant received a voucher for a resource kit that includes a CFL bulb, faucet aerator, and LED “Resource Ranger” ring.

Winter Wonderland



Six students + parents and siblings had a wonderful time in the Hospital School's Winter Wonderland organized and directed by preschool teacher Anna Hanlin with assistance from the teachers. The kids made snow, played pin the nose on Rudolph, painted ornaments, and had pictures taken in the photo booth. What an excellent beginning for winter break!!!
